Maybe we are all chefs: career lessons from food and cooking.

I Got 99 Problems, But Curiosity Ain’t One.

Like many many many people, I’ve fought my whole life with being too interested in too many things. Who knew these were problems? Apparently, at least one chef did.

In today’s New York Today, Daniel Humm, the chef and co-owner of Eleven Madison Park talks about getting started, passion (more specifically leidenschaft), and the dangers of too many distractions.

Be Interested in Everything. But Focus on One Thing.

So when we think about career choices, skills development and well money – everything goes back to those days when we hadn’t yet picked a major. At a large universiry, you were surrounded by a magazine stand the size of the cosmos. You could learn anything. Dig DEEP into areas that you were only mildly curious about. The world of possibilities was open.

So you load up on courses like a ravenous lunatic at a russian supper club buffet. Peanut Butter, Salmon, Hamburger, Chicken, shrimp… It’s all there, so why not explore it?

Indigestion is why. All those parts are great, but it can take a lot to make them all go down simultaneously.

Like my old piano teacher once said, “be interested in everything. But focus on one thing. Don’t worry – you’ll touch on all the others along the way.”

The 44th Anniversary of the Birth of Hip-Hop

UPDATE – 8.14.2017

Digging into the code, it appears that the infamous hiphop17.2.js file is licensed and written by the stop-the-record-who-are-these-geniuses, “DinahMoe AB & Oskar Eriksson”

Well, here they are.  And they indeed do some great stuff.   Like Plink.
